Rhode Island’s baseball team will play a four-game series at Kent State as part of its ongoing 2026 season. The Rams, currently holding a record of 0-7, are seeking their first win this year. The series begins on Friday, February 27 and continues through Sunday, March 1.
This marks the first time Rhode Island and Kent State have faced each other in baseball. The Rams have started the season with three consecutive road trips, opening with a four-game series at Jacksonville followed by three games at Alabama.
Historically, Rhode Island has played frequently against teams from the Mid-American Conference (MAC). Their overall record against current MAC programs stands at 102 wins and 116 losses. A significant portion of these games comes from matchups with Massachusetts (UMass), which joined the MAC in 2026; Rhode Island is 95-108 all-time against UMass. Against other MAC teams—Miami, Bowling Green, Western Michigan, Ohio, and Central Michigan—the Rams are 7-8. Their last meeting with a MAC opponent was in 2020 when they played Central Michigan in Tucson, Arizona. Rhode Island won both contests before the remainder of that season was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Severe winter weather recently impacted Rhode Island’s schedule. A game scheduled for Tuesday, March 24 against Bryant University was canceled after three feet of snow fell across the state on Monday, February 23. T.F. Green International Airport in Warwick recorded nearly 38 inches of snowfall—the highest since the Blizzard of ’78 when just over 28 inches were measured. In response to these conditions, classes at the University of Rhode Island were canceled from February 23 through February 25 to allow for campus cleanup.
