The Rhode Island Rams men’s baseball team will continue its seven-game homestand with a three-game series against La Salle, beginning Friday, April 10.
This matchup holds significance as it marks the return of competition between the two teams since La Salle discontinued its baseball program after the 2021 season. The Explorers announced in 2024 that they would reinstate their program for the 2025-26 academic year. Rhode Island currently holds a strong all-time record of 30-12 against La Salle.
The series opens Friday at 3 p.m., followed by games on Saturday at 1 p.m. and Sunday at noon. The last time these teams met was in April 2021, when they split a four-game series in Philadelphia. During that meeting, Rhode Island lost on Friday and Sunday but won both games of Saturday’s doubleheader.
Rhode Island is performing well during this homestand, going undefeated (4-0) so far and outscoring opponents by a combined score of 25-10. Over this stretch, the Rams’ pitching staff has posted an earned run average (ERA) of just 2.19 while holding opposing hitters to a .173 batting average—compared to their season ERA of 4.83 and opponent batting average of .260.
The Rams have played most of their recent games at home; eight out of nine contests between April 3 and April 15 are scheduled at Bill Beck Field. Overall, Rhode Island is now 8-2 at home this season with both losses coming by only four runs combined.
Looking ahead, after facing La Salle this weekend, Rhode Island will play its next road game against Bryant on Tuesday before returning home to host Merrimack next Wednesday.
