Rhode Island claims top seed in Atlantic 10 women’s basketball tournament

Rhode Island has secured the top seed for the 2026 Atlantic 10 Women’s Basketball Championship, following a decisive 72-48 victory over George Washington. The Rams and George Mason both ended the regular season with 16-2 records, but Rhode Island earned the tiebreaker by defeating George Mason in their only head-to-head game.

As the top seed, Rhode Island will receive a double bye and is set to play on Friday, March 6 at 11 a.m. against the winner of No. 8 Loyola Chicago and No. 9 St. Bonaventure. This quarterfinal matchup will be broadcast nationally on USA Network.

The tournament’s first round doubleheader on Wednesday and Thursday’s second round games will be available via streaming on ESPN+. Quarterfinals are scheduled to air on USA Network, while CBS Sports Network will carry Saturday’s semifinals.

The championship final is slated for Sunday, March 4 at 4 p.m., with Courtney Lyle and Carolyn Peck providing commentary for ESPN2’s national broadcast.
