Rhode Island men’s indoor track and field team secured its third consecutive IC4A Championship title on Sunday in Boston, Massachusetts. The team finished with 146 points, ahead of Saint Joseph’s with 78 points and Brown with 72.
Matt Santy was recognized as the male performer of the meet. He won the high jump by clearing 2.16 meters (7′ 1″) and set a record in the long jump with a distance of 7.56 meters (24′ 9.75″). “Matt Santy was named male performer of the meet after he won the high jump and a record-breaking long jump,” according to event organizers.
In other events, Lucas Andrade took first place in the 60-meter hurdles, finishing in 7.94 seconds. Joachim Ennoo won the triple jump with a mark of 15.71 meters, while Theo Puterbaugh placed second in the shot put at 16.69 meters.
Miles Lipka claimed victory in the heptathlon, scoring 5,235 points.
Additional performances included Steven Doss finishing sixth in the 200-meter final at 21.54 seconds and Alex Arbogast taking eighth at 22.27 seconds. Ben Fatone came fourth in the mile run with a time of 4:11.62.
The distance medley relay team—consisting of Cole Francis, Ryan Temistokle, Ben Fatone, and Jeremy Roe—finished fourth overall with a time of 10:01.55.
Other notable results from Saturday’s events included Rowan McConkey and Cam Miller tying for third place in the high jump after both cleared 2.01 meters (6′ 7″). In addition to Santy’s win in the long jump, Ennoo finished second (7.42m), Nate Shultz fourth (7.21m), and Izzy Henriques-Setho fifth (7.14m).
Alex Arbogast also placed second in the 60-meter dash with a time of 6.82 seconds.
Carson Dean earned second place in pole vault by clearing 4.80 meters.
Wyatt Lamell ran a time of 48.84 seconds to finish thirteenth in the 400-meter race, while Jaden Enis placed eighth in the 800-meter event at 1:53.29.
The Rhode Island Rams will compete next Friday at the BU Track & Tennis Center for the David Hemery Valentine Invitational.
