Rhode Island rowing wins all races at Overpeck Rams Invitational

Rhode Island Rowing won every race at the Overpeck Rams Invitational in Ridgefield, New Jersey, on April 4. The team competed against Fordham and Villanova and finished first in all nine events held during both morning and afternoon sessions.

The results mark a strong start to the 2026 season for Rhode Island Rowing. Winning every race highlights the team’s performance and competitive edge as they face regional rivals.

In the morning session, Rhode Island took first place in several categories: Second Varsity 4 (URI A, 8:48.6), Second Varsity 4 (URI B, 8:51.4), Varsity 4 (8:34.1), Second Varsity 8 (7:17.9), and Varsity 8 (7:06.6). During the afternoon races, URI A again led the Second Varsity 4 with a time of 8:07.5 while URI B placed fourth at 8:46.6; Rhode Island also secured victories in Varsity 4 (8:26.1), Second Varsity 8 (7:00.2), and capped off with a win in Varsity 8 at an improved time of 6:53.8.

The sweep demonstrates Rhode Island’s depth across different boat classes as well as consistent improvement between sessions.

With this performance, Rhode Island Rowing sets a high standard for its upcoming competitions this season.
