Rhode Island lost both games of a doubleheader against Fordham on April 18. The Rams fell to Fordham by scores of 7-1 and 6-2 in Atlantic 10 Conference play.

The results are significant for Rhode Island, which now holds a record of 15-23 overall and 4-13 in the conference. Fordham improved its record to 18-23 overall and 9-8 in conference games.

In the first game, Fordham pitcher Olivia Simcoe allowed only two hits and struck out six batters during a complete-game effort. Nicki Sudall gave Fordham an early lead with a two-run double in the first inning, followed by additional runs throughout the game, including a three-run home run by Sadira Forcucci in the sixth inning. Giuliana Ialongo hit her first career home run for Rhode Island, providing their only run.

Game two saw Eva Koratsis hit two home runs for Fordham. Sudall again helped her team take an early lead with a two-run single. Rhode Island responded with a rally in the third inning as Hannah Hernandez scored on Riley Frickleton’s double and Natalie Maleitzke drove in another run. However, Koratsis’ solo homer put Fordham ahead again, and she later added another home run to secure the win.

Notable performances included Ialongo’s first career homer and contributions from Frickleton, Maleitzke, Sydney Orndorff, Becca Zawistowski, Hernandez, and Kylie Bulinski—who drew her program-record-setting 100th career walk during game one.

The series will conclude with one more game scheduled for Sunday at noon.
