Rhode Island lost a close home finale to George Washington, 4-3, on April 11. The Rams took an early lead after winning the doubles point and securing victories in the first two singles matches, but could not hold off a comeback by their opponents.

The match was significant for Rhode Island as it marked their last home appearance of the season. Early wins from Nikki Fernando and Kajsa Helgesen at No. 1 doubles, along with Sophie Herrman and Ava Grnja at No. 2 doubles, gave Rhode Island momentum and a quick advantage.

Fernando’s performance was notable as she became the first player in program history to win at least 18 doubles matches in three different seasons. She also earned her 64th career singles victory during the contest, tying Christen Cadigan for third place all-time at Rhode Island.

Despite these achievements and a strong start—including Grace Darcy’s straight-set win at No. 1 singles—George Washington rallied to take all remaining singles matches. The Rams had match points in several of those contests but were unable to secure another win.

The team will finish its regular season against Fordham on April 18 before heading into the Atlantic 10 Championship scheduled for April 22-25.
