Bulldog Women Defeat Binghamton For First Conference Win

The Bryant swimming and diving teams competed in their first America East dual meet on Saturday, with the women taking a 184-116 victory. 

Reagan Lord led the way with four total event wins, including a sweep of the backstrokes. Freshmen Jill Carline and Marcella Figueroa each won three events on the day, with Carline taking both the 100 and 200 free.

Coach Cameron's Comments: "It was a great win for the women! We had a ton of strong swims from a lot of different women and won 12 events. We're excited to have our first conference win!"

Bulldog Notes and Notables

  • The women's 200 medley team of Lord, Figueroa, Nellie Clark, and Erin Doruska started the day with a win, hitting the wall at 1:48.80.
  • Natalia Kuipers and Makayla Pearce took a 1-2 finish in the 1000 free, with Kuipers posting a winning time of 10:45.30. They finished with the same result in the 500, with Kuipers finishing at 5:16.56.
  • Carline picked up her first career individual win in the 200 free, finishing with a time of 1:56.32.
  • Lord won her first individual event in the 100 back, leading a Bulldog 1-2 with Julia Stenhard. Lord claimed victory with a time of 57.35.
  • Sammi Grenon and Charlee LeGallais gave Bryant another 1-2 finish in the 200 fly. Grenon won with a time of 2:11.75.
  • Figueroa won her first individual event with a 24.67 in the 50 free. She paced the team's third straight 1-2 finish, as Jill Carline came home second.
  • Lord took home a sweep of the backstroke events with a 2:05.35 in the 200. She would add another solo win with a 2:11.25 in the 200 IM.
  • Stenhard won her lone individual event of the day with a 58.45 in the 100 fly.
  • The 400 free relay team of Carline, Figueroa, LeGallais, and Hallie Campbell rounded out the day with a victorious time of 3:37.33.
What's next: The Bulldog women will swim their home opener on Friday, November 4 against Providence College.
