HOW IT HAPPENED
• JWU scored first in the bottom of the first inning. RIC then answered in the third inning with a three-run effort, highlighted by a home run from Boyce to go up by two, 3-1.
• RIC added a run in the fourth inning when freshman second baseman Noelle Simmons (Manchester, Mass.) drove in a run. The Wildcats then added two in the bottom of the frame after an RBI base hit and then a solo shot by senior catcher Meaghan Gurska (Revere, Mass.).
• Junior first baseman Katelyn Ashe (Colchester, Conn.) singled in a run in the seventh inning to give RIC an insurance run.
• JWU was able to load the bases in the bottom of the frame and scored twice off of a hit batsman and a sacrifice fly to knot the game up and send the contest to extra innings.
• After the Anchorwomen scored in the top of the eighth inning, JWU came back and scored twice to walk the game off for the second time on the day and sweep the doubleheader.
