The University of Rhode Island Department of Physics will hold its fifth annual World Quantum Day event on April 10 at the Kingston Campus, according to an announcement made on April 7. The event is free and open to both the public and the university community.
World Quantum Day is a global celebration that highlights quantum science and technology, focusing on their growing influence in research, innovation, industry, and society. The upcoming program at URI aims to bring together elected officials and leading figures from the technology sector to discuss how quantum computing is affecting society.
As part of the festivities, attendees will have an opportunity to tour the future laboratory for Quantum Computing and Technology located in URI’s Fascitelli Center for Advanced Engineering. This tour will take place from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m., along with remarks by Senator Reed. Additional events are scheduled throughout the afternoon until 6 p.m., with details available on the event’s website.
The event underscores URI’s commitment to advancing education and awareness around quantum technologies as they become increasingly relevant across multiple fields. News organizations interested in covering World Quantum Day are encouraged to contact James Bessette at URI communications for assistance with access or parking passes.
Organizers expect participation from both local community members and those within URI who wish to learn more about developments in quantum computing.
