University of Rhode Island students are preparing for RhodyTHON, a dance marathon to raise funds for the Children’s Miracle Network and Hasbro Children’s Hospital. The event will take place on Saturday, March 7, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the Memorial Union on the Kingston Campus.

RhodyTHON is one of the main student-led fundraising events at URI. It brings together various campus groups, such as Greek Life organizations, sports teams, and other student clubs that contribute to organizing and running the event.

Throughout the year, students have raised money through activities including booths, dodgeball tournaments, sports games, and visits to Hasbro Children’s Hospital. These efforts aim to engage both the university and local communities.

During the event, attendees will participate in music and dance activities. Food will be available from local vendors. Each hour features choreographed dance performances. Several children from Hasbro Children’s Hospital—referred to as “Miracle Kids”—will attend and be recognized during the marathon.

Last year’s RhodyTHON raised more than $58,000 for charity. Since 2017, over $750,000 has been collected through this annual event. After this year’s marathon ends, organizers will reveal the total amount raised with members of RhodyTHON’s executive board present.

The executive board has 29 members who have planned this year’s event since last year. The leadership includes Executive Director Caeley Cranstoun, External Director Kayleigh Wilson, Membership Director Abby Forget, Internal Director Madeline Augsbach, Communications Director Megan Cavallo and Finance Director Tucker Pieh.

People can register or donate online or pay a $5 entry fee at the door. The event is open to everyone.

“RhodyTHON volunteers have organized booths, dodgeball tournaments, sports games and Hasbro Children’s Hospital onsite visits to boost overall morale and excitement throughout the Rhode Island community,” according to event organizers.
