Mayor Jorge O. Elorza today joined Providence City Councilwoman Mary Kay Harris (Ward 11), Rhode Island Commissioner of Education Angélica Infante-Green, State Senator Tiara Mack (Dist. 6, Providence), State Representative Anastasia Williams (Dist. 9, Providence), Providence Public Schools Superintendent Javier Montañez, members of the Classical Alumni Association and community members to cut the ribbon on a $5 million renovation project for Classical High School. This first phase of the high school renovation project converted the former media center and locker rooms into classroom swing space to be used when the next phase of renovations begin later in the school year.
Attorney General Peter F. Neronha announced that a Providence man was sentenced in Providence County Superior Court to serve 28 years at the Adult Correctional Institutions (ACI) after pleading to his role in the murder of 78-year-old Delor “Dean” Cabral in Providence in 2013.
